Karl Marx

Karl Marx (1818-1883) spent most of his life in poverty. His greatest work, Das Kapital, combines Hegel's dialectical view of history with a radical materialism. He exposes capitalism as a systematic exploitation of the worker, and argues that history is a series of class struggles which will inevitably result in the overthrow of capitalism in favor of a classless society.
